Application of Nostoc commune as a bioindicator of environmental pollution: literature review and results of educational experiments

Based on the literature data, Nostoc commune is recommended as one of the objects of bioindication of environmental pollution. During the first (pilot) stage of student educational experiments, calibration series for some pollutants were constructed for the purpose of subsequent evaluation of soil samples when studying the state of the soil according to its "flowering". The assessment of the biodiversity of microphototrophs in the soil also made it possible to assess both the impact of oil pollution and its processing products, as well as various nitrogen-containing substances. It turned out to be possible to apply similar techniques also for the determination of specific pollutants in snow samples.
