The article analyzes the peculiarities of diastolic dysfunction, the methods of its determination, its role in prognosis of cardiac surgery patients. At present impaired diastolic function of the left ventricle is an insufficiently studied topic. Diastolic dysfunction contributes to cardiac insufficiency in the long-term postoperative period, increases the risk of hospitalization and lethal outcome, worsens postoperative prognosis. The problem of prognostic significance, accurate diagnostic methods of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction remains an unsolved problem and requires further study.
