Nowadays, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection has become a chronic disease since the advent of combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) and a modern person living with HIV has a better quality of life compared to the last century. It is also worth considering that the majority of HIV-infected people around the world are of reproductive age, and therefore the desire to realize their reproductive function has become one of the main problems among this population group. Our study showed that there is no clear relationship between the duration of antiretroviral therapy and the reproductive outcome in HIV-infected women. However, in order to reduce the risks of reproductive losses and vertical transmission of HIV infection, it is necessary to start taking ART if a woman did not take antiretroviral therapy before pregnancy.
