POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common pathology in obstetrics and gynecology. The disease is accompanied by dysfunction of the endocrine system organs - ovaries, adrenal cortex, hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pancreas. In early pregnancy, patients with PCOS are at high risk of miscarriage. In the future, the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, placental insufficiency, preeclampsia, and isthmic-cervical insufficiency increases. The risks of PCOS include pregnancy complications, cardiovascular pathologies, and gynecological neoplasms. The pathology is associated with anovulation and hyperandrogenism. The incidence of the pathology is 4-15% among women of reproductive age. The article examines the influence of individual links in the pathogenesis of PCOS on the course of pregnancy and characterizes the main complications of the disease.
