Bioabsorbable scaffolds (BVS) have been developed for the endovascular treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD) with the goal of short-term restoration of the lumen of the affected vessel. In the future, according to the developers’ plans, the frame of these scaffolds should degrade into carbon dioxide and water. Initial results from numerous studies were very good and encouraging. But over time, observations of scaffolds revealed that the risk of BRS thrombosis in the early stages is higher than that of drug-eluting metal stents. The main problem with the thrombosis of the frame is the so-called “suboptimal technique” of implantation.
