THE ROLE OF MOLECULAR GENETIC CHARACTERISTICS OF GLIAL TUMORS IN BRAIN EPILEPSY

Shchavinskaya Asya Valer'evna  (neurosurgeon, Federal State Autonomous Institution " National Medical Research Center named after N.N.Burdenko" )

Epileptic seizures are common symptom of a brain tumor. Due to their morphological characteristics, low grade gliomas (LGG) remain one of the most epileptogenic tumors. At the same time, the number of studies on LGG-associated epilepsy is insufficient. The average overall survival in LGG, according to various authors, ranges from 6 to 8 years. Seizures with structural epilepsy can have very pronounced clinical manifestations, which, along with the oncological component, significantly reduces the quality of patient’s life. This determines the need for a detailed study of all the links of tumor-associated epilepsy.

Keywords:Molecular genetic profile, gliomas, LGG, HGG, IDH-mutation, tumor-assotiated epilepsy (TAE).
