This scientific article examines the role of neoadjuvant therapy in the treatment of rectal cancer, with a particular focus on the efficacy of diverse treatment modalities, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The objective of neoadjuvant therapy is to diminish tumor size, reduce the likelihood of recurrence, and enhance overall survival. The analysis includes recent studies comparing regimens such as FOLFOXIRI and XELOX, which clarify the intensification issues and potential benefits of targeted therapies. Furthermore, the article presents an overview of novel approaches, including organ-sparing strategies for early-stage tumors and the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on surgical outcomes. The findings suggest that treatment plans based on tumor characteristics and patient profiles may be useful to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Ultimately, the study emphasizes the importance of ongoing and confirmatory research to improve neoadjuvant strategies and patient care in the treatment of rectal cancer.
