This review presents an analysis of the current state of the problem, devoted to the study of the role of autophagy in the development of various pathological conditions. As part of the preparation of this review article, a deep analysis of modern scientific literature covering this issue was carried out. A special place is occupied by sections describing the mechanism of action of various autophagy modulators in the context of their use to combat various diseases. This review is of significant interest both to researchers who study fundamental issues related to the development of various diseases, and to those involved in the development and implementation of drugs in clinical practice.
