Despite the introduction of screening programs, improved equipment of medical institutions and patient awareness, the problem of increasing mortality from colorectal cancer remains unresolved not only in the Russian Federation but also worldwide. Colonoscopy is an acceptable primary method of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. The reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer observed in patients undergoing colonoscopy directly correlates with the adenoma detection index (ADI). Due to the fact that screening programs usually begin at the age of 50, there are very few available data on the risk and potential for adenoma development at the age of 40 to 49 years. CRC incidence and mortality is increasing among the young population, and in everyday practice, epithelial lesions with malignancy potential or even advanced cancer (ADC) are often encountered during colonoscopy in patients under 50 years of age. Objective: To compare the adenoma detection rate and the detection rate of common colorectal cancers according to age in a large group of patients during routine colonoscopy.
