This article examines the prevalence of peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, the main complications of this disease, its impact on disability and mortality of the population. The main risk factors include Helicobacter pylori, nervous and emotional stress, alimentary habits, bad habits, and long-term use of certain medications. The main idea of the article is that patients with comorbid conditions, especially in the elderly, require an individual approach to diagnosis and treatment. The effectiveness of the measures carried out is significantly increased with the active interaction of the patient, his relatives and the doctor. It is important to identify ulcerative defects in a timely manner, as this contributes to the early diagnosis of tumor processes and improves the prognosis of the disease. The article emphasizes the need for closer cooperation between the doctor and the patient for the successful treatment of peptic ulcer disease and concomitant diseases.
