DIAGNOSIS OF LOWER EXTREMITY ARTERY DISEASES IN PRACTICE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONER

These days witness a steady increase in the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), associated with an increased risk factors and life expectancy of the population, improved diagnostic methods. This category also includes lower extremity artery diseases, which in their initial stages may remain asymptomatic for a long time. This feature creates serious difficulties for their diagnosis at the outpatient stage. According to many authors, the study of the ankle-brachial index as the main screening method has not been sufficiently implemented in the practice of a general practitioner, while clear indications for its initiation have not been established. These may include the presence of a large number of risk factors (RF) for cardiovascular diseases, as well as the clinical picture, which can be assessed using specially designed questionnaires.
