THE USE OF THUJA PLICATA (THUJA PLICATA L.) IN LANDSCAPING IN THE NORTH-WEST OF RUSSIA

The article reflects the current state of the issue of sorting Thuja plicata (folded) (Thuja plicata L.) and its use in landscaping. Currently, there is practically no information about the cultivation of Thuja plicata and its cultivars in Northwestern Russia. In St. Petersburg, thuja successfully grows in the forest phytocenosis of the Lindulovskaya grove and is rarely found in urban landscapes. The folded thuja has valuable decorative characteristics, shows good adaptation to adverse climatic conditions and is resistant to common diseases of coniferous plants. However, the modern thuja plicate variety is mainly represented by introduced varieties that have not undergone comprehensive variety testing in the conditions of Northwestern Russia.
