INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO THE ANALYSIS OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL ORIENTATION AND FUNCTIONAL INTERDEPENDENCE OF OPTICAL, VESTIBULAR AND OCCLUSION PLANES

The article presents an integrative approach to the analysis of spatial orientation of three key planes of the skull - optical, vestibular and occlusal. The aim of the study is to develop a methodology for a comprehensive assessment of their mutual arrangement and functional interdependence for the diagnosis and correction of bite pathologies. The methodology is based on a tomographic analysis of 956 patients of different age groups using a specialized protocol for centering the skull on stable bone landmarks. The results revealed four main types of relationships between the inclinations of the maxilla and orbits, and confirmed the functional relationship between the studied postural planes. The developed method allows quantitative assessment of the tilts and rotations of the postural planes of the skull, which significantly expands the diagnostic capabilities in planning orthodontic treatment. The novelty of the work lies in the creation of a reproducible protocol for three-dimensional assessment of postural planes using stable anatomical landmarks, which ensures accurate monitoring of changes even with patient growth or modification of the dentition. The study proves the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of dentoalveolar anomalies taking into account the position of all three functionally interconnected planes, which creates the basis for effective cooperation between orthodontists, osteopaths and other specialists.
