Soldatov Alexey Ivanovich  (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Tomsk Polytechnic University; Professor, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics, Tomsk, Russia)

The paper presents an analysis of audio recordings captured during surge testing of a natural gas compressor. The recordings were processed using an algorithm based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method to evaluate the spectral characteristics of the sound waves. The experiment aimed to identify characteristic frequencies of specific signals occurring in pre-surge operating conditions of the compressor using a recording microphone. This study may contribute to the detection of pre-surge states of the compressor through acoustic signal analysis.

Keywords:compressor surge, early fault detection, acoustic sensor, Fourier transform, signal frequency spectrum
