Despite the progress in dental care, the treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases remains challenging due to the high recurrence rate. The prevalence of periodontitis is 85-98% among the population, which makes it not only a medical but also a social problem. This disease is polygenic in nature, and its development in predisposed individuals is due to both genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors. This is especially true in situations where orthopedic treatment is necessary, requiring rapid and effective oral sanitation, especially before extensive dental treatment. Modern local forms of medicines (films, therapeutic plates) have a limited duration of action and low accuracy. Therefore, an important task is to optimize the treatment of periodontitis by increasing the effectiveness and purposefulness of the drug effect. The use of individual vacuum compression mouthguards with areas for local drug placement allows for more accurate and prolonged drug delivery to the lesion site. This helps to shorten the duration of treatment, reduce costs and prevent complications such as gum recession and inflammation around the prepared teeth. The development and implementation of new therapeutic and orthopedic approaches in the complex treatment of periodontitis are becoming of great practical importance for improving the quality of prosthetics and preventing complications.
