Mining and processing of coal leads to large amounts of dust, which forms an aerosol in air and deposits on constructions of production facilities. The problem of dust explosiveness of coal dust is one of the acute problems of industrial safety in the coal industry. One of the biggest mortality at the facilities of the coal industry points to the need of stricter requirements for the introduction of dust and gas treatment and monitoring of combustible coal dusts. In this paper, the basic requirements of industrial safety in the mining and processing of coal, with regard to the prevention and localization of coal dust explosions. The basic factors affecting the explosiveness of coal dust were formulated. Existing legislation acts in the field of dust and gas regime are subject to greater expansion and establishing the more stringent parameters for the localization of coal dust explosions. Toughening of the requirements in the field of dust and gas regime should have a positive impact on improving industrial safety in the coal industry.

Keywords:industrial safety, explosiveness degree, coal dust.
