Efficiency of preventive therapy in patients with cerebral atherosclerosis and carryed carotide endarterectomy

The efficacy of preventive conservative therapy was evaluated in 123 patients (45-86 years old) suffering from atherosclerotic of the carotid arteries. Previously, 53 patients underwent carotid endarterectomy, 70 patients were without reconstructive surgery. Results. Adherence to preventive treatment was significantly higher after reconstructive operations. The unfavorable course of the disease is observed in 23.6% of cases. The unfavorable prognosis correlates with the severity of systemic atherosclerosis, the coefficient of atherogenicity and the imbalance of platelet hemostasis.
