Assessment of residual life of cranes

Cranes are part of almost any technological industry at the moment. However, the most of them are very old, so their operation represents a great danger. Conducting evaluations of residual life of the cranes is a key element of industrial safety of hazardous production facilities. In this paper, the basic issues of residual life estimation of cranes were presented. The main ways of estimating residual life of the cranes were analyzed. On the basis of the analysis it was determined that the method of estimating the residual life of cranes sufficiently far from perfect and needs improvement. Development of new approaches for the calculation of residual life of these objects is a particularly important task and requires speedy solutions.
