The question of social control in prisons

Article is devoted to public control over observance of human rights institutions and bodies enforcing criminal punishment of imprisonment. Pointed out some historical moments in the development of the institution. Pointed to the importance of the development of comprehensive relations between penal system and the public. Discussed issues social and legal purpose of social control. The main emphasis is on the appointment of public control in the penal system and the difficulties in its implementation.
