Development of conceptual framework of functioning of network structures in economy

This research studies the questions of cognitive status of “network” and “network structure” definitions, as well as the modern approaches in the theory of networks and network structures in respect of the interdisciplinary aspect. The essential features of the “network” concept have been closely ana-lyzed. The author gives his own definition of network structure. Further prospect of the development of this research area, based on the author’s un-derstanding of networks and their types (“dependent” and “independent”), has been considered. Global economic system changes over to a new stage of development, where the sixth technological mode is formed, in which new branches, most-ly oriented on high technologies, dominate. As a result, the main competitive factor of national economy turns to the continuous ability to produce new knowledge, which becomes the basis for introduction of organizational, technological and grocery innovations.
