Credit underwriting as a tool of the loan portfolio quality improvement

The article reveals the methodological aspects of the credit underwriting practices used in banks for estimation and managing of credit risk. The authors have summarized and described the credit underwriting algorithm, analyzed a set of qualitative and quantitative factors taken into account in economic and mathematical models used in its procedures. There have also been identified the benefits of the credit underwriting usage in the bank risk-management system building.
