The study of state functions in the economic sphere: the historical aspect

Many fundamental problems of modern society can not be solved solely by market mechanisms and need state participation. These problems include, first of all, the development of the social sphere, which, from the passive element of the economic system, has become one of the most important sources of economic growth. In particular, the level of education, the qualifi-cations of the workforce and the state of scientific research directly affect the pace and quality of economic growth, which is confirmed by special studies. In the future, the role of education and science in economic development will, in all likelihood, increase due to traditional, material-material factors of production. Other intangible factors that have a huge impact on the state of the labor force and labor productivity, such as economic growth, include health care, social security and the state of the environment. The high level of material and spiritual well-being of citizens, the dominance of the middle class in the structure of society and, consequently, the implementation of the principles of social partnership determine the country's long-term economic prospects and its socio-political stability. A special factor of objective strengthening of the role of the state is the extremely increased social and organizational complexity of the modern economy, which disrupts the nor-mal functional links within the market system. Objective: to analyze the main economic functions of the state.
