The article presents a study of the activities of Russian trade business structurеs in the domеstic and international markеts. The research is conducted on the basis of a systematic approach. Authors provide the analysis and assessment of the Russia’s retail state industry in the context of socio-economic and global realities over the period 2010-2017. And they suggest the rating of leading exporters and importers based on a data of the beginning of year 2018. The links between the state of the trade market and the national specifics are observed based on the general trends. The obstacles that complicate the achievement of high performance in the sphere of commodity circulation are identified.
