The article deals with the concept of the state as a work of art, developed by Jacob Burckhardt in 1860. It is revealed that the state as a work of art according to Burkhardt is a state where culture plays a decisive role.
It is established that Burckhardt's ideas were developed in the work of Nicholas Roerich, who believed that the growth of culture and the construction of an aesthetic state creates the necessary basis for the transition to a legal state. It is proved that a legal state is a state with a high aesthetic component.
The article reveals that modern society, focused mainly on achieving economic well-being, is unsound. Considering the increased role of aesthetics in modern society and taking into account its potential in solving global problems, the article concludes that there is a need for greater participation of the state in the development of culture and art. It can be seen that this type of state should be considered the basis of the future civilization.
