The need to provide qualified legal assistance in order to protect the rights, freedoms and interests of a person who is subject to criminal prosecution determines the importance of developing the most reasonable line of defense in a criminal case of murder. Frequently, an admission of guilt limits the choice of a defense position. Today the current legislation of the Russian Federation needs changes that can eliminate the diversity in the application of this legal institution.
