Structural and institutional features of the digital society: theoretical aspect

The article discusses the process of digitalization from the point of its influence on the structural and institutional specifics of modern society. The research relevance is due to the fact that for modern society the process of digitalization of socio-economic relations becomes a factor for structural and institutional transformations that must not be foreseen. It may be necessary to develop a new methodological apparatus. The article purpose is to identify structural and institutional features in modern society that occur as a result of digitalization. The research methodology is based on a system-functional approach and includes the methods of the general scientific group (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction); as well as a number of special methods: content analysis of scientific literature on the research topic, functional analysis, system generalization method. Based on the results, the author came to the following conclusions: the new digital society is characterized by signs of deinstitutionalization of traditional analog institutions; creation of fundamentally new social groups with digital identification. In parallel, the process of institutionalization of new areas of digital reality is taking place. These structural transformations lead to the gradual death of analog professions, the reduction in interpersonal communication out the Internet, as well as the emergence of new activity areas and social groups, the identification of which is due to digital reality.
