On the issue of improving the effectiveness of countering illegal forest trafficking

The article discusses legal instruments and means of state control in the field of forest management, the use of which will allow law enforcement agencies to increase the effectiveness of prevention and combating illegal logging of forest plantations and illegal forest trafficking; highlights important changes in criminal legislation regarding forest smuggling; formulated proposals to improve the conditions for maintaining the register of unscrupulous tenants of forest plots and buyers of forest plantations, ensuring the implementation of the preventive function of the registry. The author defines the importance of prosecutorial supervision in the field of forest relations, as well as the activities of subjects of crime prevention in this area. The system of federal state forest supervision (control) is singled out as the main auxiliary elements of countering illegal forest trafficking; the information resource is LesEGAIS. As a priority direction in the fight against crime in the forest sector, the author named the increase in the level of interaction between law enforcement agencies and state bodies exercising control in the field of forest relations and forest management, including in the exchange of information relevant to the successful solution of tasks to prevent illegal logging of forest plantations and illegal forest trafficking.
