In their study, the authors discuss the peculiarities of the state of the legal culture of Russia in the era of Peter the Great's reforms. According to the authors of the article, the strengthened vector of the entire block of Peter's reforms in the field of economics, military affairs, territorial and local self-government, state government, the church, the sphere of law, education and science, the social sphere of the population and other areas of the state's life was certainly extremely necessary and timely, for Russia at that time was noticeably lagging behind the leading countries of Western Europe in many indicators and a big "leap" forward in this direction was needed in all spheres of life of Russian society and, above all, in the sphere of legal culture.
