the problem of understanding the category "source of law" is one of the most urgent in legal science. Depending on the type of legal understanding, ideas about what constitutes a source of law also differ. This article considers the problem of the origin and legal understanding of the category "source of law" in the Russian naturalist (natural) philosophy of law of the late XIX - early XX century.
