This article discusses the features of the legal status of a customs representative, and in particular, the conditions for inclusion of a customs representative in the register of customs representatives, analyzes the features of insurance of the risk of civil liability of a customs representative as one of the conditions for inclusion in the register of customs representatives and the activities of a customs representative. The features of the customs representative's risk liability insurance contract are considered. The conclusion about the need to improve the legal regulation of the institution of civil liability insurance of the customs representative is substantiated
