This article analyzes, compares and discusses the basic and advanced scientific and legal principles that underlie the international civil process, compares different approaches to the legal nature of the principles. The paper assesses the application of various principles of the international civil process, emphasizes the role and absolute necessity of implementing these principles in protecting the rights of citizens of various states. The purpose of this work is to identify the foundations and role of the principles of the international civil process, with the aim of further development towards a uniform understanding of the essence and structuring of the main ways to protect the rights of citizens. The main types of fundamental principles were disclosed, such as the principle of equality of parties in a court session and the principle of a fair trial, the principle of reciprocity of Member States, the principle of international comity, the principle of non-discrimination, the principle of the closest connection, the principle of national treatment. This work substantiated the influence and importance of the principles in the administration of justice not only by the judicial authorities of the Russian Federation, but also by the courts of foreign countries, and also provided an opportunity for a multifaceted disclosure of further detailed study and adoption of new principles of international civil procedure.
