The article deals with issues related to the functions of modern law. It is noted that in the 21st century the role of law in the regulation of social relations is increasing significantly. The authors draw attention to the fact that the functions of law are multilateral and include both socio-regulatory and social-protective tasks. The most important function of law is to establish a framework of behavior in which people can act freely without violating legal norms. Law also performs the functions of protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring law and order, social stability and harmony in society. The authors come to the conclusion that the role of law in modern society cannot be overestimated, its functions must be supported and strengthened in order to provide a legal basis and legality in society.
