The article presents a comparative analysis of the “landfall” strategies of youth in China and the “brain drain” phenomenon that Russia is facing. The study is based on the methods of network ethnography and secondary analysis of empirical and theoretical data existing in the scientific community, which allows for a comprehensive examination of the causes of youth migration trends in the context of social and economic transformations in both countries. The main focus of the study is how young people in China and Russia react to changes in the educational system, economic situation and labor market. The author comes to the conclusion that in China there is a desire for stability and development within the country, while in Russia young people are more often turning to international opportunities and emigration.
The article discusses the reasons for these differences, including educational inflation, stress and uncertainty, and differences in social and cultural contexts. Also covered are "landfall" strategies, including reverse strategies and approaches to finding work and education.
The study offers recommendations to improve conditions for young people in both countries. For Russia, the emphasis is on creating opportunities for internal youth development, improving the link between education and the labor market, and promoting a more equitable distribution of social resources. For China, it is proposed to stimulate the global ambitions of youth and support innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives. The article's conclusion highlights the importance of understanding each country's unique context when developing policies and strategies to support youth in the face of globalization and social change.
