CONDITIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SINGLE-INDUSTRY TOWNS

The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of Russia's single-industry towns. Their role in the economy and key problems hindering sustainable development. The paper considers approaches to the assessment of conditions for sustainable development of single-industry towns. In order to classify single-industry towns in Russia, a methodology for assessing the potential for sustainability of single-industry towns by 60 indicators from 4 areas: environmental, social, managerial and economic sustainability is proposed. The paper proposes a point assessment of the sustainability potential of a single-industry town, based on which all subjects are divided into 4 types and there is an opportunity to monitor changes and quick diagnosis of problems that threaten the sustainable development of a single-industry town.
