The article is devoted to the consideration of historical and modern volunteer initiatives aimed at strengthening the spirit of civic participation and supporting participants in armed conflicts. The relevance of the topic is explained by the increased interest in volunteerism as an important resource for consolidating society, especially in crisis situations. The novelty of the work lies in the comparative analysis of two historical periods: the times of the Great Patriotic War and the present day, when volunteer movements actively help participants of the SVO. The study describes various forms of public support, such as fundraising, organizing material supplies, cooperation with government agencies and charitable foundations. Particular attention is paid to the educational role of young people and the continuity of volunteer traditions. The purpose of the article is to systematize historical experience and identify common features of modern volunteer practices, based on materials from different regions of Russia. To solve the tasks, a comparative method, analysis of scientific literature and historical evidence were used. The works of I. O. Balakirev, I. O. Mkrtumova, I. O. Tryakhov and others were studied. The conclusion summarizes the results and provides recommendations for the development of volunteer communities. The article will be useful for historians, sociologists, teachers and everyone interested in volunteer activities.
