The article explores the peculiarities of identity formation among the inhabitants of the Jewish autonomous region (EAR), identifying key factors influencing their self-identification within both the nationwide and regional contexts. Based on sociological survey data, the authors highlight three primary elements defining the identity of area residents: civic affiliation, regional specificity, and historical awareness. All three components interact continuously, enriching each other and creating a balanced mechanism for shaping identity. This model is useful for understanding similar processes in other multiethnic regions of Russia. The research findings can be applied to developing educational programs, formulating regional policies, and improving administrative approaches aimed at enhancing civic and regional identity.
