The article examines issues related to such a negative phenomenon as the theft of budget funds during the implementation of national projects, which undermines the stability of the economic system and causes significant damage to the state and the financial market. The author presents the concept, goals and types of national projects, their legal basis, as well as the types of crimes committed in this area, detailing the use of operational investigative skills to document crimes committed in the budgetary sphere. The issues of competence and powers of the subjects of the system of state bodies whose activities are aimed at counteracting the negative phenomenon under consideration are raised.
