Eff ect of moisture absorption on the quality of polymer fi lling materials

The study of physical, mechanical and chemical properties of polymeric materials under the influence of moisture absorption. The relevance of the study of this topic is due to the prospect of creating the best filling material that meets all the requirements and improve the strength and aesthetic characteristics in order to improve the efficiency of treatment of dental caries. In this paper, water absorption of restoration materials is experimentally determined to determine the degree of their hydrophobicity. As a result of the influence of moisture changes in the microstructure of polymer filling materials, confirmed by the results of acoustic microscopy. The data obtained in the course of the study indicate that the high coefficient of moisture absorption increases the porosity of the restoration materials and reduces adhesion to the tooth tissues, which leads to a change in color and the breakaway of the restoration material.
