The subject of the research is the key element of ensuring the economic interests of the owners of the organization - the management system of the economic security of the enterprise. Particular attention is paid to the methodology of risk management in the framework of project management. A comparative analysis of business practices and national policies in the areas of national security, economics and the fuel and energy industry is being carried out in order to improve the concepts and practices of ensuring the economic security of business entities in the framework of project management and risk management. The objects of study are business entities and investment projects of the fuel and energy complex. Research shows that the creation of a list of risks and the identification process: challenges, threats, risks, makes risk analysis simpler and more accurate.
