ANALYSIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF DEVICES FOR DETERMINING THE OCCLUSAL PLANE IN THE CLINIC OF ORTHOPEDIC DENTISTRY

In modern dentistry, before starting extensive orthopedic treatment and especially often with total prosthetics, a huge number of devices are known and used to determine the spatial location of the upper jaw model in the skull, which are necessary to find landmarks in the manufacture of the most aesthetically accurate and functional types of dentures. We are talking about the correct determination of the patient's future occlusal plane. Despite the more than a century-old history of the use of articulators and facial arches, there is insufficient data in the scientific literature on the differences or identity of the position of the cast model of the upper jaw when working with their various types. In this study, we propose a device that, in our opinion, is able to correctly show the position of the occlusal plane relative to the horizon in the articulators most commonly used in dental practice, which thus makes it possible to assess the position of the cast models and make recommendations on choosing the necessary tool for the correct determination of the occlusal plane.
