ON THE ISSUE OF EXPANDING THE INSTITUTION OF COLLEGIAL CONSIDERATION OF CRIMINAL CASES WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF JURORS

Currently, collegiality in the criminal proceedings of the Russian Federation follows a trend of expansion due to the introduction of consideration of criminal cases by a panel of jurors at the level of district courts and the addition of new acts to the list of offences. With all the positivity of this trend, the legislator did not take into account the essential points when determining the compositions for each of the forms of collegial consideration. This article analyzes the problems that arise both in general in connection with the expansion of collegiality due to the consideration of criminal cases by jurors, and with individual procedural points. In addition, the analysis was subject to a list of corpus delicti, criminal cases about which are considered by a jury. Proposals have been developed and made that can be submitted to the CPC of the Russian Federation in order to improve the quality of criminal proceedings and expand collegiality.
