The article attempts to solve the mystery of spatial models in Yesenin’s early story “Near White Water”. In this work, the interaction of different types of locus is fully represented, but it is paradoxical that the open and the closed, their own and those of others change places. The open space of water, the lake becomes close and saving for the main character. The story is also analyzed from the point of view of traditional folk culture, the special ritual of Ilyin’s day is taken into account, since the main actions are timed to coincide with this calendar time, the cosmic turn in the annual cycle, which is associated with the struggle of chaos and space and the restoration of order.
