The purpose of the presented study is to consider the ecological traditions of the Russian and Tatar peoples - the largest ethnic groups living on the territory of the Russian Federation. The article lists the prerequisites that contribute to the formation of original ecological traditions of the Russian and Tatar peoples, characterizes the specifics of their manifestation in the national-religious and household aspects, in folk art, in literature. As a result of the analysis, a conclusion is made about the possibility of using the accumulated experience of a person's value attitude to nature as a factor in the rationalization of socio-natural interactions.
