The natural process of the emergence of the city, its development, the causes of its progress and decline are embodied in its ruins. Some cities were formed, lived and died within the same era, others developed, expanded in their original place, bearing the imprint of the times in which they existed. Trade routes passing through Azerbaijan provided a unique opportunity for establishing contacts and dialogue, promoted cultural exchange and mutual enrichment of civilizations of the Middle Ages.
