The refraction of the Russian culture in Balanchine's creativity

The research is devoted to consideration of creativity of the Russian-American choreographer G. Balanchine through the light of the national culture characteristics which were formulated by Likhachev. The research shows the characteristics are traced brightly in his works and are the dominant ones. The received conclusions are extremely important. They give the chance to pass from a traditional ballet view to the culturological analysis of choreographic art that undoubtedly expands the horizons of ballet heritage studying, in particular, of J. Balanchine’s.
