Historical and cultural heritage through the prism of historical memory: the problem of "places of memory"

Discusses the definition of historical memory and places of memory in the Russian public consciousness in the second half of XX – beginning of XXI century, taking into account the regional component. Analyzed specific events associated with changes in relationship to the historical and cultural heritage, with the introduction of in the direction of the notion of palimpsest. An attempt to rethink the processes of this period and determining the algorithm course of history in the Russian public consciousness.
