Temereva E.   (Graduate student, Omsk State Technical University )

The article considers three great dilemmas that constitute the problems of contemporary aesthetics. The dilemma, based on the opposition of objectivity and subjectivity in the notion of taste, originates at the time of Ancient aesthetics in the writings of Plato and the Sophists. The dilemma aroused in the New Age based on the difference between publicity and privacy of aesthetic experience, it was presented in the studies of taste judgments by David Hume and Immanuel Kant. Finally, the last dilemma is based on the opposition of imagination and perception, it is formed in the twentieth century in the aesthetic theories of Jean-Paul Sartre, Monroe Beardsley and John Fischer. These dilemmas are not the same either and demonstrate impossibility to reduce problems of contemporary aesthetics to any part of the presented dilemmas.
