Modern science as a phenomenon of culture

The article discusses the main problems of art in the context of cultural development of the individual and society. The nature of art as a cultural phenomenon, its evolution and current state are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the comparative analysis of modernism and postmodernism, which allows to identify the main trends in the development of contemporary art as a form of social consciousness. The positive characteristics of modernist art, which are to an extent invaluable in culturological and art history literature, are highlighted. The criticism of some negative manifestations of the postmodern paradigm in artistic practice, carried out in the article, is associated with the loss in the creation of many artistic works of axiological landmarks, as well as the mimetic function of art, carried out by means of artistic imagery. The analysis of contemporary art allows to outline further prospects of its desirable development as a phenomenon of culture. Among these prospects is the expansion of the possibilities of interactivity of contemporary art in the processes of socialization and inculturation, contributing to the spiritual and moral development of all members of society. The article also substantiates the possibility of the formation of a new cultural paradigm, called post-postmodernism as the next stage in the development of world and national artistic culture.
