By the third quarter of the XIX century cotton printing both in terms of technical equipment and drawing skill achieves notable successes. Business elite formed a number of dynasties (the Burylins, the Harelins, the Gandurins, the Posylins and others), who effectively developed their business for over a century and who was interested in technical re-equipment of production and constant updating of assortment. The products of a number of Ivanovo cotton firms are becoming quite competitive (in a certain market segment) and their promotion to the global exhibition grounds begins. Textile factories of Ivanovo region began to be actively involved in the exhibition activities of national scale since the late 40-ies of the XIX century. The paper first examines the collection of cotton fabrics of Gandurin’s manufactory, exhibited at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Based on the study of archival data was analyzed the participation of the textile factory at the world exhibition in Chicago in 1893. The principles on which the acquisition of tissue samples for demonstration at the exhibition was carried out are revealed. This article demonstrates the main stylistic influences in the ornamentation of textiles. The collection of fabrics of the Gandurin’s manufactory reflects both the achievements of the printing industry of its time, and the high level of skill and professionalism of the representatives of the Ivanovo school of printing. The use of modern discoveries in the field of chemistry has made it possible to achieve high quality printed drawings in terms of their brightness, strength and diversity. In this sense, the products of the Gandurin’s factory could compete with the best cotton printing firms in Russia and Europe.
