In this paper, the author attempts to comprehend the ontological and axiological foundations of the topic of modern political and legal institutions that he develops. An appeal is made to the works of the classics and modern authors. Analyzed modern approaches to understanding the nature of political and legal institutions. The contribution of each direction is noted. In accordance with the logic of the work, the outlines of the foundations were found. The necessary explanations and clarifications are given. In conclusion, the author determines the results of the work and gives the foundations.
